You should read "The Game" by Neil Strauss first - Neil's book is a very entertaining read. This book is a textbook, pure and simple. The information is outstanding, but it's not meant to be entertaining, just informative. The book is not hard to understand at all, if you've read "The Game" first.
For those who say "Act naturally and practice, you don't need advice books", everyone can benefit from coaching. Even Michael Jordan acknowledged how coaches helped his basketball game.
In response to the reviewer that compained about PUA's manipulating females, women have men beat in the manipulation game by a country mile. Women manipulate to obtain money and resources for men, and there are entire industries devoted to it (women's magazines, clothing, makeup, plastic surgery, etc.). The PUA community is only an attempt to level the playing field.

"Mystery" could easily re-pen this work as a sociology of human mating in the 21st century. Because of the frankness of the point of the book, to help men get beautiful women into bed, he is able to write honestly about the dynamics of attraction in a world in which our drives don't match our social models. This morally neutral and unapologetically forethwrite manual unveils the reason why both men AND WOMEN find it so difficult to form relationships using what our heads tell us should work. The good news is, the author has developed ways to make attraction work in venues and social settings that actually serve more to hinder relationship than help it. Still, like any self-help manual, it's useless unless you apply it. Learning how to demonstrate the reasons why a women should be interested in you in a short amount of time does take effort and can feel "forced". But, if you are ready to make it happend and stop waiting for it to happen, this book is the fasted way to get started. At least, that's what I've found.

I've never seen his show, but as a single male/amateure psych student, I was very impressed with this book.
The blurb "how to get beautiful women in bed" is somewhat misleading - while many of Mystery's techniques could be misused, he asserts that it's not about "scoring one-night stands" or "becoming a cookie-cutter pickup artist." His emphasis is on learning to initiate a RELATIONSHIP with the woman of your choice, and while this may always be a competitive game among us males, he largely avoids resorting to duplicity.
Mystery spells out in clear terms what women gauge a man's "value" by, including health, financial independence, confidence, persona, and social skill; and offers his own advice on how to SUBSTANTIALLY improve yourself in these areas. He does NOT offer a "quick fix."
He goes on to explain the dynamics of social interaction; how to read a woman's otherwise mysterious cues; what the specific phases of courtship are, and how to handle each of them WITHOUT CUTTING CORNERS; and how to circumvent the learned defensiveness of women who have become innured to an excess of attention. If some take offense at his ideas, bear in mind that Mystery emphasizes practicality over sentimentality.
The fact is that men - including otherwise decent guys who suffer from social anxiety - are not born into the world knowing these things.
I think that overrall, this book will do more good than harm.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's a quick easy read, that you will refer back to time and time again. The thing I like best about The Mystery Method, as opposed to other "pick up" books, is that it isn't about manipulating people, taking advantage of girls, or getting laid. It primarily serves you with a structure for meeting new people. It shows you the steps it takes to move through an interaction, from the first word to many dates later. This book will help you make friends!! It shows you what you are doing wrong and what you should be doing.
Anybody who ridicules this book obviously has no REAL field time or experience what so ever. February 27, 2007

This book wasnt made for a specific type of guy. Its for EVERYONE, and those of who scold the book are the same ones who will continue to live in thier safe little bubble world attempting the material in thier feeblest most earliest stages of improvement, fail, and wind up casting undeserved stigmas to the book.
Saying its "fools gold" and such. Im actually glad they think of it as such, because while they're at home doing thier ritual one-handed porn surfing exercises, we're out in the real world reeping the real fruits of our efforts and pleasing women like they never dreamed possible.
This book goes beyond knowledge and fabricated routines or fine tuned social dynamics. BELIEF is what makes the material work. Some guys just dont have the motivation or the will for it, and never will. Its that simple.
TMM is one of - if not *thee most powerful seduction reference tools in the world. For people recommending "art of seduction" sure there are lessons to be learned by it, but practically speaking the book is useless.
The concepts are logical. But it lacks ORDER, there is NO AGENDA to it.
If your gonna take info from anyone, take it from someone who has sweat and bled in the field, not someone like Robert Greene.
You must learn to distinguish between a professional writer (green-aka keyboard jockey) and mystery, a professional *liver and seductionaire. Someone who has real world feedback and experience. Greene is a man with a pen in his hand, mystery is a man with his **** in some girls ****. Get the point?
Out of all Mysterys contributed to the community, and from what I see and know with my own eyes. Theres no question to it. Theres also no magic book. But this one happens to be one of the best and most recommended in the community, take from that what you will.
